What are your options?

There are hundreds of different businesses you can consider starting, and each has its own set of pros and cons. The biggest roadblock to starting or buying a business is that they require a considerable up-front cash investment. In addition to the large investment, the time commitment you must make when starting a business can ultimately turn out to be be far greater than what you have experienced in any job, and the return is not necessarily worth the extra time or the financial risk.

Let's take a look at some of your options for starting your own business:

Option - Buying a Franchise: You could buy a franchise such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Subway, or Dominos Pizza, but you may find they have many BARRIERS TO ENTRY. You will need to make a large upfront cash investment (average start-up cost between supplies, location, etc - can fall between $400,000 to $1 million), and in the end, what you are really buying yourself is 90-hour-a-week job. You are going to be stuck in one location all the time, and you will have to be there everyday to oversee the operation. You are not going to increase your time freedom.

With a franchise, you are also going to be required to pay royalty fees for the life of your business. These fees are in addition to all of your operating expenses, and in many cases, they can prevent you from being profitable.

The following shows a few examples of franchises taken from Entrepreneur.com. Be sure to note the "net worth" and "cash liquidity" requirements which would prevent the majority of people from even considering this option:

Option - Traditional Brick & Mortar Business: In almost every case, if you buy yourself a traditional business, you are doing nothing more than buying yourself a job... only with more headaches. You assume all responsibility, and you must be there all the time to make sure that everything is running properly. There are numerous costs associated with operating a traditional business including inventory, rent, and of course, personnel. Administrative tasks take up a tremendous amount of time. The success of your business can be highly dependent on the state of economy, and you are also bound to one location. Long hours trapped in one location do not give you the freedom to spend more time with your family and friends or be able to take vacations, travel, and live a life of comfort and privilege. Costs are also a barrier to entry. Here are few examples of business that you can purchase - please note the limitations:

Waterfront Motel
Asking: $850,000 Gross: $150,000 Cash Flow: Not Disclosed Location: West Alabama, Alabama	Summary: This neat-as-a-pin waterfront motel in located in West Alabama. The property has 24 units plus a 2 bedroom apartment. All rooms have newly installed air conditioners and also refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and hair dryers. There is a commercial laundry room for the motel and a separate laundry room for motel guests.
Custom Closets and Shower Door Manufacturing
Asking: $750,000 Gross: $1,100,000 Cash Flow: $234,000 Inventory: $56,000 (not included in the asking price) Employees: 13	Summary: An 18 year old family owned business servicing the Bathroom and Bedroom industry supplying products for window treatments, storage, ventilated steel shelving, partitions, laminated shelving, mirrors. In addition to the asking price there are assets of $340,000, including inventory, office equipment, trucks, woodworking shop tools and machinery.
Bagels/Delicatessen/Convenience Store
Asking: $565,000 Gross:$741,965 Cash Flow: $128,032	Summary: Excellent opportunity for entrepreneur to take this great business to the next level. Option - Multi-Level Marketing (MLM): Multi-level marketing is a viable option for many with few barriers to entry, but the chances are very slim of you actually achieving your goals of changing your financial situation and having time freedom to do the things that you want to do. Admit it, most of us have tried MLM and failed. In fact 98% of people who start in MLM either make no money or drop out in the first 6 months. I was one of those who stuck it out for 6 years.

I blew out every single one of my friends, family & neighbors. They were either in and quit or didn't want me to mention it. I did the house plans (all over the East Coast), took a few plane trips across the country to drive depth, all the weekly suit-and-tie hotel meetings, and the Starbucks overviews. I bought all the expensive products. I made on average 3 new contacts per day…stalking people at Barnes & Noble, Target and Home Depot, wherever I didn't get kicked out. I was the guy who interrupted you while you were pumping your gas. I was consistent and persistent. I came early and stayed late. I edified my up-line, read all the books and spoke at the night-owls, and basically did absolutely everything that my up-line told me it took to succeed. I sponsored plenty of people; the problem was there was absolutely no duplication. Not one of the couple hundred people in my group was willing to do what I was. I basically had a very time consuming, VERY poor paying 2nd job. In 6 years I was never profitable…not even one month! And I was supposedly one of the next 'stars'. They would march me up in front of everyone and say "Mark and Tracey are doing everything it takes to be successful, listen to what they have to say." Isn't it funny how they never asked us to pull out a check or show our balance sheet? Why did it take me so long to quit? I had a big dream, and thought MLM was the only option I had. Little did I know.

I want to first give you a little background on myself and who I am. Then I will share my Home Based Business Income that I use everyday to generate money.

I'm 45 years old and I have worked as an architect for 22 years. My wife Tracey and I have been married for 13 awesome years. We have two beautiful children -- Camryn, age 7 and Caden, age 3. We live in toasty Las Vegas, NV.

We are stuck in what I call a mold that our parents taught us and their parents taught them. It's you grow up, get an education and go work for someone for the next 30 years and they will take care of you. Then you retire at age 65 and are too old and or broke to enjoy life. I want to break that mold! Now! It really started bothering me this year when I had to sit there at work and fill out my vacation request form. Have any of you had to do this? My measly 3 weeks a year vacation. I thought this is weird. I have to ask for time off to go on vacation. It just hit me. I don't want to do that anymore. I want to go on vacation when and where I want. That's why I do what I do.

I started looking for a home business about 12 years ago. I got very interested in network marketing after reading "Wave 4" by Richard Poe. I have looked at several companies over that time, mostly within the network marketing and direct sales industry.

I even tried aerial photography. The camera was attached to a big helium filled mini-blimp and tethered to a 100 foot cord. You took the pictures from a remote on the ground. I thought this was going to be my ticket to the promised land. I soon learned there really wasn't a market.

This was one of my many failed businesses along with countless mlm's. But with every failed business comes great learning experiences. Failing is the main ingredient to success. I now know what makes a great company.

How did I end up in a desert?

After graduating college in August of 1986 from Texas Tech University I moved back to my home town
of San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio was dried up. The oil crisis had put a big burden on the city. There were no jobs in the field of architecture. Everybody had already started laying people off.

My dad was retired and doing handyman work and painting houses. So after I graduated college, guess what? I started painting houses with my dad. I painted houses and mowed lawns that summer to make a living. You do what you have to do.

After seeing my frustration my dad suggested I call my grandmother who lived in Henderson, NV and have her
mail me some architects out of the phone book. I then spent the next couple of days writing and mailing out my resume.

Finally in October I got a call from Robert A. Fielden Architect in Las Vegas. He wanted me to fly down and interview. Bob did hire me, and the rest is history. That's how I ended up in Las Vegas.

My wife Tracey moved to Las Vegas from Cleveland when she was 3 years old. She has been here ever since.

Let me tell you about my wife. She is the greatest wife and the best mother. As I write this letter on the eve of Fathers Day 2007, I really have to count my blessings to have her and my beautiful children in my life. They are my world and I thank God everyday.

Tracey and her sister Laurie owned a Gymboree Play & Music Franchise. After 6 years they had had enough and sold it this year. But Tracey couldn't sit still. Entrepreneurship is in her blood. She started with the Bodyshop at Home. The ladies will know what that is. She absolutely loves it. She also is a troop leader in our daughter's Girl Scout troop and does fund raising for our son's non-profit pre-school.

Old School Thinking

Isn't it funny how we are taught to go to college, get a job, work there for the next 30 years, retire at age 65. I don't know about you, but when I'm 65 I won't be able to really enjoy life. I want to live life now while I'm young. That's why I do what I do. Sure, my job as an architect pays well, but there is no time freedom.The big difference is enjoying what you do. The money and time freedom will come from that.

The other thing that is revolutionary about this home business is that it's really easy to learn. You can learn the whole system in about 3 hours.

My wife told me the other day, "I never see you get as excited as when your talking about your home business. This will happen to you, too. I see it with everybody that I work with.

Hobbies & Interest

I enjoy mountain biking (that's me on the left), dirt bike riding, tennis, snow skiing, working out and spin class (bicycle aerobics). My sports teams are the Oakland Raiders, San Antonio Spurs (2007 Champions), Oakland A's. Jeff Gordon is my favorite Nascar driver.

I enjoy reading inspirational books, like "Think and Grow Rich", all Anthony Robbins books, "Your Best Live Now" by Joel Osteen, "Self-Matters" by Dr. Phil and my new favorite "The 4-Hour Work Week" by Timothy Ferris.

Tracey and I enjoy traveling and spending time with our kids.

No Recruiting or Selling Required....

I focus on this home business because it is passive in nature....meaning, a person can put their money to work for them with or without referring others or selling anything to people. In other words, no recruiting is required to generate income.

Why do I focus on passive income programs? That's easy- because most people by nature are lazy. Remember my survey results earlier in my story. People want it better, faster, cheaper and easier...so I run with that.

The Death of Network Marketing

I spent many hours in the past building network marketing companies. I would rush home from work to get people on 3-way calls with my upline, cold calling, talking to people, trainings, getting rejected time after time. Sound familiar? It got old real quick. There had to be a better way.

Now don't get me wrong. Network marketing can be a great way to make money. But for the last 60 years things haven't changed that much. The technology is great and is helping, but there is still a 95% fail rate, even with the internet.

Why do people fail? Simple. Most people don't like to sell or recruit. Promoting and marketing is not for everybody. Most people suck at it. Let's be honest. What's ironic is the marketing that is taught in by network marketing companies doesn't work. People are taught to talk to everybody within 3 feet of them, have home parties, do 3 way calls, set up hotel workshops. Instead they should be taught how to effectively market and attract business to them.

When you take away the pressure of recruiting or selling, you create a path of least resistance. Now you have something that most people will be attracted to.

On the other hand, if you are a good marketer and like to share a good thing with others, you can sponsor new members and earn really awesome commissions. But it's completely optional.

This works!

I'm doing this because I know it works. I've seen the facts. I've seen this system in action over and over and over again.

I would never recommend a home business or company that I haven't first studied and researched myself and that I'm personally involved with using my own money. I will only put in my own money once I'm satisfied that the people behind the company are stable and honest. From experience and due diligence, I can tell you whether a program will have long term success. This company is rock solid with great leaders and a terrific support staff.

My experience with the product is based on real life, not theories.

I know people like to be lead by the hand with this type of business. I am here to help you.
